Are search engines important?
  • A study from IMT Strategies professes that a company's presence within search properties is the most important factor in maintaining high brand awareness -- more so than print, radio, or TV advertising (Sales & Marketing Management Magazine, January 2001).

  • A Direct Marketing Association study found that search engine optimization was the top method cited by Web site marketers to drive traffic to their sites (66%), followed by email marketing (54%)

  • Iconocast reported that 81 percent of U.K. users find Web sites through search engines (Source: June 2000, Forrester Research Inc., "UK Internet User Monitor.")

  • The Graphics, Visualization & Usability Centre (GVU) 10th User Survey reported that 84.8 percent of respondents found out about Web pages from search engines.

  • 92% of online consumers use search engines to shop and/or purchase online according to a report published by the NPD Group.

  • A study conducted by IMT Strategies found that search engines are the number 1 way (46%) people find Web sites. Random surfing and word-of-mouth ranked second (20% each)

  • Search engines rank among the busiest and most popular sites on the Web -- see any RelevantKnowledge or MediaMetrix report.

  • Jupiter Research, in a March, 2001 report, notes that Internet users ranked Internet searching as their most important online activity, awarding it a 9.1 on a 10-point scale. The next most important activity ranked only 6.3.
Why do you have keep up with site promotion?

Isn't once enough?

In a word, no.

By now, you have learned that it isn't true at all that "If you build it, they will come," right? You do know that, don't you? Having a web site is like having a cabin in the woods if you don't tell people how to find it.

The need to promote your site all the time is so strong that it cannot be emphasized enough. If you want to be successful, if you want to make a living from your site, you must promote it often and long.

If you have been in business before, and placed ads, then you already know that one ad placement does almost nothing. It's the repetition, over and over, of seeing your name that gets people to check out a store or a business.

If you've been successful offline, then you already know that marketing, advertising and promotion are the lifeblood of every business. Most business people find that the time required to promote their online business presence takes away from the time required to run their business. That is where Success Promotions comes in.

Without marketing, advertising, and promotion, no business will survive whether it's online or 'brick and mortar.' However, online businesses face some special challenges because of the speed at which the very face of the web changes.

Hundreds of thousands of websites are being put online every single day. 95% of them will never make money because the owner of the site doesn't have a clue about how to promote a site. Some don't even know it's necessary. Most have no marketing plan at all. They lose money the entire first year, trying to find something that works. Sound familiar?

This doesn't have to happen to you.

Well, let me tell you this. No matter what you're selling, you can make at least a comfortable living online.

If your site has the right promotion at the right time, in the right way, and if it is an ongoing promotion, every day, every month, every year, taking advantage of the newest, cutting edge methods, staying current on promotion and marketing techniques, you can be successful beyond your wildest dreams.

This is not the hype of "Get Rich Quick, Doing Absolutely Nothing." Common sense tells you there's a price for success.

There is no such thing as enough promotion. There is however, the "right kind" of promotion at different times, and there is finally such a thing as "name recognition" after a long time of constant promotion. Longevity counts, too, if the longevity is accompanied by constant promotion.

The rewards are there. Hundreds of thousands of people are very quietly making a very good living online. They probably aren't any smarter or any more success oriented than you. They are, however, doing web savvy site promotion or hiring someone to do it for them.

Here's the secret. They either spend 6-8 hours of their own time online, DAILY--yes, daily--promoting their site and their business and their name, or they pay someone else to do so...or both. The most successful do both. It all depends on how much you want and how much you want it.

It's just like having a business offline, in that if people don't know you're in business, they can't possibly find you and give you money for your products or services. They may not even know that anyone anywhere does what you do!

A big difference online, however, is that online, three months is equal to an entire year of change offline.

Online you are actually only found in a few ways. Approximately 65% of all traffic for all sites comes from search engines and directories. Can you afford to lose 65% of your potential traffic because you aren't listed well in the search engines?

The majority of the rest comes from links from other sites or mentions in newsletters, and other small bits of traffic comes from a few other sources where an announcement of your business is seen.

What you may not realize is that you could be ranked #1 in a major search engine on a key word and not only lose that spot, but be dropped out of that search engine entirely, overnight. Some online business people spend all their time tweaking their code to get higher placement, just to stay in the search engines.

The search engines change the rules on placement about every two weeks as well as on how to submit to them, with major changes about three months resulting in hundreds of thousands of sites simply purged and dropped. If your site is dropped, will you even know it?

The team that I work with can optimize your site for the search engines, but, depending on your key words and phrases, the link popularity method that is my trademark service may work just as well. Either way, you are left with enough time to run your business and to market your product, one on one.

Success Promotions is known for getting Name Brand Recognition for our clients.

If you decide that you only want to use my service for one month, here is what you can expect:

Within six weeks after I stop promoting your site, your search engine rankings may begin to slip, and your traffic may start to slow again, sometimes gradually and sometimes dramatically. It usually, but not always, takes a couple of months to return to the pre-promotion levels.

The incoming links will start dropping off because when the owners check the traffic you send to them in their stats, you won't get enough traffic to make a reciprocal link worthwhile for them. They look for sites that will send adequate traffic to them to exchange links with.

The proprietary linking methods that I employ that guarantee you 200+ incoming links within 2 weeks will drop you after the first two weeks because they absolutely require first that those links pages be kept completely up to date, and that those links pages are promoted precisely the way the rules state, every two weeks.

The result is that the next time the search engines spider your site, you don't have enough incoming links to convince them that your site is relevant to the key words you've picked, especially if there are another 50,000 sites with your key words just dying to get that high spot. Please note here the value of having your own domain name versus a site on a public domain (eg: xoom, tripod, angelfire) that hosts all those other site you're in competition with.

It is in your own best interest to re-invest a portion of the orders you receive while you are getting traffic into your site promotion, to keep that all-important targeted traffic coming.

Sometimes the slowdown occurs a lot faster than six weeks.

There are several reasons for that. The Internet is that dynamic for one. Changes do occur that rapidly. Promotion has to be done on a daily basis just to keep your traffic at the current levels, with some extra promotion daily to keep pushing traffic levels higher just as it has to be done in any business.

Some of the propriety promotional actions I do that are extremely productive are required to be done every two weeks and the traffic explodes geometrically if done on an ongoing basis.

In the past, some of my customers, who had little business experience, have believed that having me promote their site for a month was really all they needed to do, but within three months, before they came back for on-going promotion, their traffic was down to the pre-promotion levels. Or worse.

I hear "I can't afford to hire someone to promote my site. I'm not getting any sales" rather often, and I bite my tongue. If you aren't promoting your site around 6 hours a day, every day, well, then no, you aren't going to get sales unless you're paying someone else to do it for you.

What is going to change that lack of sales for the better if you don't change it yourself, or hire someone else to change it for you? If you keep on doing whatever it is you're doing, or more relevantly, not doing, why would you expect better results?

My prices are less than the price of a lunch every day. More importantly my on-going promotion of your site will make a lot more money for you than the small investment you make. Unless being in business is just your hobby, something to play at, then you really can't afford not to hire my services.

Oh, sure, you need to have a good product, and you need to have fairly competitive pricing. You need an attractive website that gives the customer a reason to return, and the site needs to work, to be easy to navigate, be clear, have a 'call to action'.

Actually, if you don't have that much, I probably won't work with you anyway. I have to be careful where I expend my time, too. If your site or your product is obviously not going to be promotable, it would be folly for me to be associated with it. I have a reputation to protect as well. And if I spent my time promoting "unpromotable" sites then you probably wouldn't be here reading this. So, if you have a lousy product, a totally unrealistic price, an ugly, hard to navigate site, I haven't been talking to you anyway. If you fall into this category and you want to do something about, visit the Profit Point team and get a website combined with marketing from the beginning to have a "Sales Machine."

Let's just assume that you do have a good (enough) site, a good product, and a fairly competitive price. You're still not making sales even though you put in 6 hours or so every day promoting it?

Even if you are promoting your site, if you aren't doing the things that work right now, you aren't going to get sales. Doing all the right actions at the right time is what gets the traffic to your site.

If you are getting sales, you probably know that you better keep promoting your site to keep on getting sales, or your success will be just another "Flash in The Pan" that could have been, should have been, successful.

If you want to make a living with your site,or if you already have a degree of success and want more of it, get started right now. Fill out the order form right now to get started..
